Construction in Coquitlam

Contour Projects builds and renovates for Coquitlam owners from our office in Vancouver: duplexes and multifamily, custom homes, renovations, and tenant improvements.

Planning a build in Coquitlam

Coquitlam reaches from Burquitlam, on the Millennium Line that was extended through the city in 2016, up to Burke Mountain in the northeast. The City expects the Burke Mountain neighbourhood to grow from more than 20,000 people to about 50,000 over the next 25 years, and it is planning Burke Mountain Village as the area’s commercial and civic hub, with a new community centre and park under construction. Whether you are building a custom home on the mountainside or a duplex closer to SkyTrain, we sort out the details and how to keep disruption down before construction starts, and a principal oversees each stage through to handover.

Building in Coquitlam

Coquitlam brought in the provincial small-scale housing rules in June 2025. The change expanded the City’s Housing Choices program, which began in Southwest Coquitlam in 2011, into Small-Scale Housing across most low-density neighbourhoods. Eligible lots can hold three or four homes. These can be a house with a suite, garden cottage or carriage house, or a duplex, triplex or fourplex. The six-unit option doesn’t apply yet, because the City says no Coquitlam bus stops currently meet the provincial frequent-service test.

The City asks owners to contact staff first if the house was built before 1945, or if there’s a creek or steep slope on or next to the lot. A fire-flow form also goes in with the building permit. We build those checks into the plan early, whether it’s a custom home, a duplex or fourplex or a renovation.

We deliver residential, commercial, and tenant improvement projects across the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, Langley and Port Coquitlam. All service areas →
